Paul Gagne has been a teacher for twenty-eight years, teaching classes from grades one through nine. He is also a very successful chess instructor, having coached his school teams to many top five finishes at the Annual School Team Championship and being one of the only two coaches to have a school win first place more than twice. He excels at bringing success within reach of his students having led many of them to individual victory at city and provincial championships. Despite all of the accomplishments his students have attained in chess, he thinks that the best part is that they enjoy playing the game.
Andrew Xu is an avid chess player with a lot of experience in both coaching and playing chess. He has been on the Alberta team twice for the Canadian Chess Challenge and has placed first in many provincial level tournaments. He continues to play chess nationally and provincially, always seeking to improve his game. He hopes to share his experiences with young, beginning players and encourage them to pursue their chess goals.
Riley Wheadon is very passionate about the game of chess and has participated in numerous city-wide tournaments, including the Calgary School Team Chess Championship. He enjoys sharing his chess knowledge and hopes that his students will not only be successful, but will learn to love and appreciate the game.
