Paul Gagne taught in elementary schools for 30 years, teaching classes from grades one through nine. He is also a very successful chess instructor, having coached his school teams to many top five finishes at the Annual School Team Championship and being one of the only three coaches to have a school win first place more than twice. He excels at bringing success within reach of his students having led many of them to individual victory at city and provincial championships. Despite all of the accomplishments his students have attained in chess, he thinks that the best part is that they enjoy playing the game.
